Rickon sits in his room, looking out of the window to the courtyard. Bran had gone with Father, Robb, and Jon to execute the deserter. He would of like to have gone too, only to be included. But Mother had told him he was too young, and she wasn’t pleased they’d taken Bran with them either. He’d only played outside a little longer outside after they’d left. Then he’d gone up to his room so he could see when they came back. He hadn’t expected them to come back with anything, Theon was walking beside Robb, and he, Jon, and Bran were all holding onto something cradled under each arm that they couldn’t see. Then they walked off in separate directions. Rickon hoped they’d brought back something good, like a cake or some sweetbread they could share before dinner.

“Okay!” Rickon takes his wooden sword just in case. He runs through the hallways, down the stairs and out into the courtyard. Making sure to avoid where his Mother might be in case she’s sees and scolds him. ~I wonder what they brought. Maybe they found shiny stones, or some weird bugs we can play with.~ Jon and Robb are talking to Arya and Sansa, and they seem really excited. He tries to look around but he can’t see anything, so instead he runs over to Bran. “Is it something really fun?”

He takes the direwolf pup and looks at it with confusion. “Aren’t direwolves huge?” He hugs the direwolf close and smiles. “They’re puppies! Do they have to stay in the Kennel with the rest of the dogs? If father says we can have one, he should sleep on my bed. I’ll take care of him.” ~I don’t really know how to take care of a puppy, but it can eat at the table with me, and I’ll feed him some of my food. We can sneak into the kitchens too. It’ll be so much fun to have a puppy!~ He smiles and giggles. What are you going to name your puppy? Rickon hold his Direwolf pup up high and smiles at him.

Smiles really big and giggles, hugging the Direwolf close again. I can’t wait until he’s as big as a horse! ~He starts to think about what he should name the Direwolf.~ What are you going to name you direwolf puppy Bran? I think….I’ll name mine Shaggydog. He’s really fuzzy, and he’s a dog so it’s the best name. Shaggydog is going to sleep on my bed and scare all the bad things from Old Nan’s stories away. Shaggydog whines and nuzzles against Rickon’s shoulder and he looks at the Direwolf confused. “I think he misses his mother and father. Did you guys bring them too?” He looks around the courtyard incase the big direwolves are there. “Where is Father’s direwolf? And mother’s? Mother would probably like a fish more, because that’s the Tully Sigil.

Smiles at Bran. ~We were so lucky! The Old Gods must have told them to leave them just for us.~ “We have to do our best, for both Mother and Father. Mother will be really happy if we keep them clean and they smell good. But we can’t have them smell like girls. You’ll think of a good name for yours. What do you think direwolves like to eat best? What do they play with? Do they like to play knights?

I hope my Shaggydog likes playing knights, and running through the castle! How many sausages do you think puppy Direwolves eat? Do you think they know how to howl? Rickon holds Shaggydog up and looks at him. I hope he likes my room. We’re going to play with all of my toys.

Nope! We’ll have to make sure they act like good direwolves. I think we should get them….four sausages each. Because that’s how many I can eat and that’s all they will eat right? They don’t want oats or bread, so they just need the sausages. Do we have to teach them to not be afraid of the dark? Mother had to teach me…I thought there was a monster under my bed. Now I can be really sure there isn’t anything there, because Shaggydog will eat monsters once he’s really big!

I want him to eat all the gross food mother says I have to eat! I don’t think Arya will notice. We’ll be safer with our direwolves. Shaggy will keep all the monsters away, and bad people too. We’ll have to ask them if they’ll keep the monsters away for mother and father too. Do you think we could teach them to howl every time someone says ‘Winterfell’ or ‘Stark’?
