He rubbed his neck happy to be free of the swords touch, he turned back around and looked at the knight blocking his way. Not just any knight but one of legend, Ser Barristan the Bold. He gave the knight a warm smile and a nod as he addressed him.

“It is a honour to meet you Ser Barristan, last I heard you had….retired from the Kings guard. Does that make you the first and only to do so? Is this why you now serve the Mad Kings child?”

“Much like the vows of we Maesters, we are neutral group who have no alliegeance.”

He kept his smile warm and friendly, and toyed with the chain around his neck.

“Thus you know I have no motive for anyother House in my desire to speak with your Queen”

Ser Jorah smiled with relief and relished Daenerys embrace. ” … and I have much to tell you”, he said as they headed toward the exit.
It was like a dream come true to see her… She had only become more beautiful over time.
Before exiting the bar, he paused and looked at the old Maester suspiciously… Then he turned and exchanged a respectful glance with Ser Barristan. “We will not go far Ser.” he said, seeing the concern in the legendary knight’s eyes as we approached the door.
~Ser Jorah felt much more at ease knowing that a knight of his caliber was protecting Dany… As they left, he squeezed her hand tightly… Ever so grateful for this chance to reconcile.

I nodded at Jorah as he walked out with Her Grace and then turned my attention back to the maester.

“My queen has a gentle heart. She loves and cares for all her followers.”

I did think the tenderness of that embrace was a bit inappropriate, at least out in the open like this. Then again the queen does as she pleases, that much we all know. That’s what lead to this whole thing in the first place. At least she always had good intentions at heart. It wasn’t my place to dwell on the actions of my queen. I vowed to protect her, not judge her.

“What business have you with Her Grace? I’ll pass the message onto her. Gods know how long she’ll be talking with Jorah. They have a lot to catch up on.”

“Tha stench o’ these Southiners is burnin’ me nose hairs !” Rattleshirt thought to himself, while looking around the bar of this inn. “That silver-haired girl es mooch too young ta be so fresky with that old man with the…what’s that? A Bear on his doublet? He must be her grandfather, though, I can’t says I see any family resemblance. She must be a local whore then, treatin’ a weary traveller ta a bit of tha local flavor. She is a pretty one though, I hope tha Ol’ Bear brought enoof coin.”.

This maester was beginning to annoy me. I knew where he was going with his questions and I didn’t like it.

“Hold your tongue or lose it, maester. Kings and queens have done worse things in public than Daenerys Stormborn. It is not my duty to protect her from a broken heart. I just have to ensure that it keeps beating.”

I smile at the aging knight,his loyalty was both amusing and his biggest weakness.

“You really have fallen far from your legend to threaten a unarmed old maester Ser Barristan. But as you say you have to keep the heart beating, but I have seen what a broken heart can do to any woman. And when that woman is attempting to reclaim the Iron throne and raise three dragons, I am sure you are following my intent Ser.”
