A letter to Benjen on Visiting the Wall
March 21, 2012 in Game Of Thrones, House Stark by Lyanna Stark
I am still in disbelief he’s taken you there. But I know in my heart I shouldn’t be. After all, he had taken Brandon and Ned at separate times as well. Despite mother and I were there you need some male in Winterfell or else winter may actually come. I don’t want you to be there with him. It is childish of me but I can’t help but think he can’t possibly be treating you any better without the two of us there as well. It’s just a quick educational journey, but I asked Brandon, and I have planned on asking Ned as well but I don’t remember them staying so long. But, father and his northern lords are devout supporters of the Night’s Watch. He likely has business, and men he knows well, and men he sent there…
While your there you could do us all a favor and get on his good side, then tell him you want to go north of the wall. While your there I think all you should have to do is howl, and the dire wolves will all know your of Stark blood and they’ll come running to see you. I believe they will consider you to be their one true master, unless father howls too. Which would be an amusing sight indeed. But, the point is as my story goes they should know they need to some back to Winterfell with you. You could recruit all the dire wolves to the northern army, under our banners. Then if he is so determined you need to join, you can be the dire wolf tamer for Brandon’s army of dire wolves. It is actually a brilliant strategy to keep both father and I happy.
You’ll have to tell me what it’s like. I mean everything too. Brandon started telling me stories and he said half the men are disfigured and smell like rotten eggs. Most have missing teeth and limbs. But I don’t believe him, he’s just trying to scare me and it’s not going to work because I know how he exaggerates. He said he was brave enough to touch the wall without any gloves on. Ask father if it’s true, I think it he had he’d be short a hand. I wish he would let me see. But I’m a girl, a sweet lady, he knows I am not. He lies to himself. But I do hope your having a decent time at least, and father has warmed up to you even a little
